Woodland Lane Extension

Chapel Allerton, Leeds

Under Construction

Northlight Architecture were commissioned in the spring of 2011 to design an extension to this substantial semi-detached property in Leeds.

The clients brief was to provide open plan living, dining and kitchen space with ancilliary utility and cloakroom space to the rear of the property which took full advantage of the views and link with the extensive gardens.

The concept of a simple yet elegant modern structure was drawn up with large areas of glazing which can be opened up to a new external seating area and landscaped gardens beyond. A large frameless glazed rooflight provides further natural light to the internal spaces.

The highly insulated walls are faced in brickwork reclaimed from the demolition of an existing structure with rendered infill ensuring the aesthetics of the extension tie in with the external finishes of the host building.

Planning approval has been granted and construction is ongoing.
