Wadsworth Royd Farm

location:

Mytholmroyd, Halifax

status:

Complete Spring 2012

Wadsworth Royd Farm was a collection of dilapidated farm buildings sitting on a hillside above Mytholmroyd, Yorkshire. They stood empty for many years until it was purchased early 2009. Northlight Architecture were commissioned to help transform these beautiful listed structures into a contemporary family home.

A bold and imaginative design was been developed in collaboration with the Local Authority and English Heritage which provides the client with modern home, work and leisure space whilst treating the historic fabric of the buildings with utmost sensitivity.

Construction work recently completed which included a full refurbishment of the existing farmhouse and attached farm workers cottages. The existing cross wing which was beyond repair was sensitively rebuilt to provide an impressive open plan dining kitchen with a bedroom gallery over, all with extensive views over the Calder Valley.
